With the help of loans from the New Bohemia Group and people in our community
we have been able to retain a large sound system and lights. This system
not only will allow us to better assist events like the New Bohemisa Music
Festivals and artists and organizations in need of a system. PLEASE NOTE:
We have not yet paid off the system so any help you can give would be
greatly appreciated and is tax deductible.

This weekend was 3 days of different events including our 2nd Underground
with featured artist Bill Revoir. The weekend was amazing with many new
faces, new volunteers interested in assisting and people who were indroduced
to what we have been doing. All their kind and encouraging words meant
so much to all of us.

Our staff recently converged on copyworks for an epic promotional push
distributing flyers for upcoming events in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and
Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

Our first Underground night featuring the first visual artist Mandy Lund
was more successful than we imagined. With over 50 people in attendance
we are excited to continue showcasing more artists.

We have completed major updates to the Jackbox Society and Productions
website.

We have partnered with the Paul Engle Center to feature artists at events
starting Sat. March 14th at UNDER/ground! After every showing artists
will be able to have 1-3 of their works displayed in the Jackbox Gallery
at The Paul Engle Center for the Arts.

Our volunteer staff is really growing and tonight we had 20 people at
our meeting. We have also begun our internship program with our First

The Valentine's Day BROKEN-HEART Bawl returns. This event started about
4 years ago at the World Theater. It was an amazinging theraputic time...
and its BACK. Look for this to become an anual event with Jackbox Productions.

Justin officially starts as our Volunteer Staff Manager for 2009 and Mindy
becomes our "Master of Documents"... aka (bookeeper).

Nexus kicked off 2009 with a weekend long Jackbox Kickoff Party. Day one
was casual with food for everyone and free to the public. Saturday and
Sunday featured some of the best live bands we've seen in our area as
well as bringing back out of town favorites The Moment & Cynergy 67.
This marked the start of some new promotional efforts as well.

Nexus closed out the Year with Jackbox by throwing a show at the Paul
Engle Center. There was a record turnout and we even discovered a few
new staff to join the team. We're all excited about what 2009 has in store.
It looks like good things will be coming.

Planning has begun for 2009 which will start off with a 3 day event featuring
a variety of artists. Friday January 2nd will be free to the public. Stop
by, meet the staff, get involved, and see what's in store for the next
year. It's looking like it will be a good one!

It's been a challenging month but much support has been given to the Flood
Relief Tour we are working on with Jackbox and it's volunteer staff. We
are still looking for locations in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.

With the New Bohemia Music Festival behind us we have resumed efforts
on a flood relief tour. Plans call for the tour to hit areas directly
effected by the flood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Waterloo/Cedar Falls
area. We look forward to releasing more details as planning continues.

With the floods behind us there is still much clean up and work to be
done. Many events have had to be canceled or postponed as we look for
new locations within the area. However, the New Bohemian Music Festival
will continue as planned and we will continue to support this effort and
those of the New Bohemia Group in Cedar Rapids, IA. We are proud of what
they have spear headed and believe it is a worthwile event that needs
to continue.

Fundraising continues as staff start hitting the streets to meet individual
