Jackbox CAGE! with 4 Local Metal Bands starts April 11th 04/01/09
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Jackbox Productions, a local event production team, is bringing the metal to Cedar Rapids with a special night and 4 Local Metal Bands. Planned to be a monthly event at The Paul Engle Center. CAGE! night will feature some of the best metal bands in the Corridor and offer new bands a chance to get on stage as the event continues. "We're starting out with 4 of the best bands in Cedar Rapids. If someone hasn't been to a local metal show... well... you're not going to be let down. It will be loud." said Jason Zbornik, founder of Nexus Entertainment Arts, the not-for profit arts support organization which helped start Jackbox. All four of these bands have been working hard for Years. Acubake System, from Lisbon, is one of the youngest metal band in Iowa, comprised of members age 14-17. Acubake is quickly gaining a large fan base and are planning a summer tour. Cur, Reckless Disregard and Havok Krier have been staples in the Cedar Rapids Metal scene for over 4 years now and feature some of the most talented musicians Iowa has to offer. Paully, from Cur, is excited to play their first show with Jackbox. "Nexus has been great to us even back when they were running The World Theater. They know how to put together a killer show." Though recently formed, Havok Krier assembles seasoned musicians who've been in other projects and have quickly built a strong fan base through heavy promoting and no-disappointment shows at Tornados and First Avenue Live.

Nexus, founded in 2002, is dedicated to helping local artists develop and share their work with a wide and diverse audience. In 2008, Nexus founded Jackbox Productions to help promote bands through sponsoring live events.

Acubake System prepares for Midwest tour 03/25/09
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Nexus Entertainment Arts, a not-for-profit arts support organization, is helping Mount Vernon based metal band Acubake System celebrate two years of rocking hard in eastern Iowa. Backed by a Nexus provided sound system and tech crew, Acubake System will appear live on stage Saturday, March 28, at the South East Linn Community Center in Lisbon, Iowa. ³Acubake System is probably one of the hardest working bands in our area.. not to mention the youngest,² Nexus creative director Jason Zbornik said. ³We are thrilled to work with them and to see them mature as artists and musicians.² Ranging in age from 14 to 17, Acubake System is a dedicated group of young talents preparing for the big time as the band works with Nexus to establish a routing for their upcoming summer tour. The band sites influences such as Slipknot, Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage when describing its sound, but mostly the group just likes to rock.

The tour will include shows in Cincinnati, St. Paul, and Fargo, and several other cities and towns across the central U.S.
